The 11th FAIRS OF TASTES - GASTexpo & Ice cream & Wine successfully ended!



The 11th FAIRS OF TASTES - GASTexpo & Ice cream & Wine ended successfully.

They have received many complimenst from visitors and exhibitors. The Fairs of tastes, together with the accompanying fair Natour Alpe-Adria, was visited by around 15,000 visitors, which, in addition to a high-quality exhibition program of domestic and foreign exhibitors, could visit 32 free courses, 5 competitions and a number of daily presentations.

The varied range of domestic and foreign exhibitors gives to the Fairs of tastes weight not only in Slovenia, but also beyond the borders. The fairs stayed true to theirfocus and therefore convinced not only the professional public by presenting the latest trends and guidelines, but also those who simply wanted to enjoy the cuisine. Those could especially indulge in numerous demonstrations, tastings and free workshops.
The novelty of the fairs were workshops and competitions in the field of COFFEE, which enrich the already rich program of ice cream, pizza and pastries.

The fairs were special also for all culinary and confectionary chefs and professional bartenders and baristas, which have presented their knowledge, experience, imagination and creativity to the jurys of the 2nd BARTENDER BATTLE CHALENGE finals, the 7th International Slovenian Open Championship of GELATO, the 1st Championship in preparation of COCKTAILS, the 5th International Slovenian Open Championship of PIZZA, and the very first Championship in AEROPRESS.

Visitors were participating in workshops of coffee preparation, which took place at the exhibition stand GASTPRO. The theme of the workshops is covered in the preparation of espresso and correct recipe for modern espresso, presentation preparation of the so-called Signature drinks, Latte art workshops, presentations and hand brew cupping coffees from around the world.

 

At the workshops preparion of pastries for presentation to showroom the world's masters covered the preparation of traditional cakes in a simple manner, ice-cream on a stick, semifreddo and many other sweets. Workshops were conducted under the auspices of enterprises CARPIGIANI and MAKABO.

 

French culinary master confectionery Naser Gashi had confectionery and bakery workshops LaGanache, where he presented preparing Macarons, chocolate souffle, choux princesses donut and cake Fraisier.

 

The best Italian masters organized the school of pizza, which this year debut production of the so-called pizzas with air. A new trend in the preparation of this type of pizza has impressed our participants in school pizza. The pizza, because of the added air in the dough is better digestible. Specialty pizza is corrugated and the top layer of the blister, which is the result of the addition of air. Process for the preparation of such pizzas however dictates that the fresh ingredients added after baking the dough. Participants in the school received a diploma of participation.

 

Slovenian Vegan Society had bio / vegan workshops presenting the latest guidelines of preparing vegan meals. Bartenders Association of Slovenia led a workshop preparing cocktails.

 

Under the auspices of HO.RE.CA. Centre held a lot of interesting workshops. The winner of the last season of reality show The Restaurant is looking for the boss, Thomas Javůrek led a workshop preparing dishes in the Asian way. At the workshop "Sous vide" the visitors got acquainted with the most popular method of cooking, cooking in vacum. The workshop was led by Dejan Turk, the restaurant's chef Kings BBQ grill and Renato Bedene, an expert in the field of Sous Vide apparatus. Boštjan Grmek from companies VALTEK & ROKMAR led the demo show preparation of Slovenian ice cream, Ursa Sonnenwald, owner patisserie Cukerčki presented the use of sugar masses for the decoration of cakes. Slovenian chef Primoz Dolničar and sushi master Ernest Barac drafted culinary pampering with marble trout. Slovenian chef Teja feathers and Jani Jugovic (brand Tejan) showed making homemade burger - Burger Slovenia. At the seminar, which was led by Natasa Mežnarič, graduate sanitary engineer and expert adviser Faculty of Health Sciences, the participants learned how to prepare for inspection.

 

The activities of the exhibition space were also joining the company KREMENITI d.o.o., where every day during the fair were made meals for every day, visitors were spoiled by 18-year-old Matej Zupancic, contestanto of the reality show Master Chef.


The interesting part of the fair each year are competitions, both national and international level were held also this year.

 

This year, bartenders competed at the National Championships in mixing bar drinks, this time in the preparation of non-alcoholic cocktails. Any kind of competition for barmen represents a new challenge and daring, professional approach and high level of expertise. However, with the creation of the perfect cocktail it requires a great deal of imagination. The contest has competed 17 professional bartenders and bartenders. The final competition ranked 6 best bartenders from prelims, which then competed with each other. The finalist were: Rok Dobnikar, Draga Kepeš, Tomaž Fartek, Anže Šmid, David Avbelj in Tadej Zakošek.

 

The winners of this year's championship in the mixing bar drinks are:

3. Place: Tomaž Fartek

Award for professional work has received Almira Hot.

 

At the 5th International Championship in the manufacture of pizza and a competition for the best pizza chef Slovenia has signed up 18 of the best pizza chefs.
The winners of the championship were:
1. Place: Dejan Kondič

2. Place: Michael Tomažič
3. Place: David Novak


The 2. BARISTA batle Challenge contestants competed in 6 different challenges, which are emulated working environment Professional Barista, cupping, Latte Art, Brewing, Contract, Signature drink and knowledge. Barista compete face to face, and under pressure of time.

The winners of the championship were:
1. Place: Matija Matijasko
2. Place: Lori Brnčič
3. Place: Ante Bikić


This year's chosen flavor for the 7th International Championship in ice cream production was STRAWBERRY. The competition was open to all confectioners / ice cream makers, which have their own premises for the production of ice cream in Slovenia and abroad.
This year's winners are:
1. Place: Gorazd Berce, Confectionery ina (Misen Plas l.l.c.)
2. Place: Klemen Logar, Confectionery Ilic (Maribor)
3. Place: Gregor Božičnik, Confectionery Fetiche (Ljubljana)


New this year during the competitions was the first national championship in AEROPRESS where contestants compete in preparation of a full espresso through innovative widget AeroPress.
The winner of the championship are:
1. Place: Damir Jusovič
2. Place: Tadej Zakošek
